Highlighting the best of Oregon’s flourishing wine industry, farm to table food offerings, and heart-pumping outdoor adventure, these trips offer travelers the chance to hike, fish and raft their way through the Rogue River corridor.
Taking cue from their popular Wiking (wine and hiking) trips, these trips are selected to highlight a beautiful time of year on the Rogue River during the months of August through October, and feature wine, food, and fun. Guests explore miles of whitewater and scenic trails by day and relaxing by night to try the best Oregon local vintages with guided tastings by resident wine sommelier Liz Wan. Guests can choose from a number of trip options:
Wiking (Wine and Hiking)
Enjoy lodge to lodge hiking on the historic Rogue River trail, a stunning trail originally built by miners for their pack mules more than 100 years ago. Rafts sail down the river to carry gear so hikers can just stretch their legs and hit the trail with no cumbersome gear. After a day of hiking, guests enjoy delicious local food in comfortable, rustic historic lodges. Guest winemakers take hikers through guided wine tastings by evening. Wafting (Wine and Rafting)
This three day camping and lodge wine adventure treats guests to exhilarating whitewater rafting by day and wine, conversation, and fun by night. Guests spend the first night sleeping under the glittering Oregon sky followed by a night at the historic Paradise Lodge on night two. Liz Wan treats guests to an informative, fascinating look and taste of Oregon’s best vintages. August 28 to August 30, 2015. August 26 to August 28, 2016. $1199 pp.
Wishing (Wine and Fishing)
Rogue Wilderness has specialized in Salmon and Steelhead Rogue River fishing trips since the early 1970s. On these special Wishing trips, guests are taught a variety of Salmon and Steelhead fishing techniques: fly fishing, spin casting, bait bouncing, and pulling plugs. Guests spend days floating in McKenzie-style drift boats that are truly the “Rolls Royce” of river craft. Passengers relax in the luxury of comfortable bucket-type seats with back rests while enjoying expert instruction from professional guides. By night, travelers will bed down in historic lodges while enjoying wine tastings and scrumptious fare. October 18 to 21, 2015. $2150 pp.
